Teju Cole
Teju Cole is a Nigerian-American writer, photographer and art historian. He got his literary break-through with the novel Open City. The novel traces the path of Julius in the streets of New York, as he reflects on the very large and the very small – his relationships, history and mythology, identity and art.
In The New Yorker, James Wood called the work "beautiful, subtle, and, finally, original novel", when it was first published in 2011.
Cole meets author and publisher John Erik Riley in a stage conversation, primarily about Open City, which was translated into Norwegian this year.
